Mom On The Run

Spring into Action

Getting outdoors feels good and it’s good for you to get some fresh air and a little exercise.  Scoot those little couch potatoes out the door and into action with these tips:

  • Teach your child something new.  Whether it’s a pogo stick, skateboarding or a ball and jacks, learning a new skill can build self-esteem and cooperation.
  • Eat outside.  From a full blown picnic, to a healthy snack, eating outside is way more fun than inside, and there’s less to clean up!
  • It’s tough to beat old-fashioned manual labor, and cold hard cash.  You get your lawn mowed, gutters cleaned, flowers planted..and your kids get money!  It’s a win-win.
  • Keep a swim bag by your door stocked with suits, towels, sunscreen, goggles, water and snacks.  Then when you find yourself with a spare hour or two, you’re ready to dart out the door and make a splash!
  • Pitch a tent in the backyard.  It’s a cozy, dry place to enjoy a snack, even during a rain shower.
